Pre-Iris Goo Goo Dolls always seemed to just want to be exactly like The Replacements. With 1995’s A Boy Named Goo, it seems that the band knew they were never gonna be The ‘Mats, and started on a alternative, more mature path that truly evolved with their 1998 smash-hit song Iris.
